Lutheran Church of the Savior—Central Food Ministries - Lowell
June 22, 2010

Central Food Ministry (CFM) began in 1994, when the Lutheran Church of the Savior (LCS) learned that a food pantry in neighboring Lowell was on the verge of closing. LCS reorganized and incorporated the pantry as the Central Food Ministry, a non-profit corporation. In 2007, LCS extended a call to Jude Dehart Director of CFM. In this capacity, he oversees daily operations and creates outreach opportunities for clients as well as folks from the local community.

Lowell, about 13 miles from Bedford, is the fourth largest city in Massachusetts and does not have a Lutheran Church. About 60-70 volunteers serve the pantry each year, enabling the pantry to serve approximately 6000 families per year. Children comprise 50% of the people served by CFM.   Opportunities abound to reach out to others in the Name of Our Lord and Savior.
