Transforming Churches Network
The New England District Board of Directors embraced Transforming Congregations Network – a Synodically-recognized process - as a part of its long-range blueprint. The intent of the Transforming Churches Network process is to engage pastors and congregations to adjust their ministries in order to focus more intentionally and programmatically on reaching out into their communities to bring the un-churched into a living relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. TCN has three major components:
Congregational Consultations: A consultation involves churches inviting trained leaders with an objective eye for assessment as well as an experienced coach who can help a congregation identify and adopt specific goals and strategies which will bring un-churched people into the Kingdom of God and new members into a congregation's ministry.
Coaching: Congregations that have undergone a consultation will receive five prescriptions aimed at creating behaviors consistent with outreach and renewal in the church culture. In order to follow up on and complete these prescriptions, a trained Coach will work with the pastor and congregational leaders to accomplish the established goals within a satisfactory time frame.
Learning Communities: The purpose of the learning communities is threefold: to provide a support and safe place for pastors and leaders to share their aspirations and concerns about congregational transformation, to assist the leaders in their own spiritual life with Jesus, and to provide opportunities for learning and skill-building relative to the revitalization process.
Trained personnel are available to congregations of the New England District. For additional information, contact Rev. William J. Meyer at NEDTCN@ned-lcms.org or 203-743-1637.
